Fuel Treatment

We only work with products and equipment that we know generates results.

There are no ‘magic potions’ with us when we treat your diesel fuel – we understand how critical the delivery of clean fuel is in any application. We have done our homework and made our choice: the key for us is to get at the root cause because treating the symptoms with ‘magic potions’ does not deliver value. The primary root cause is the presence of water – either free-standing or emulsified while the root cause of ongoing contamination of new fuel introduced into your system is a bio-film coating throughout your system formed in the presence of the original polluting colony.  Changes in these two inputs either reduces or increases symptoms of fuel contamination.

Fuel has changed significantly and technology has been slow to catch up. The reduction in sulfur content required to meet emission regulations set off a stream of unforeseen consequences, some of which increased the fuels’ capacity to absorb water. Water is the essence of life not just for us but for microbial colonies, algae blooms, and diesel bugs inside the fuel storage facilities. These problems in turn are attributed to poor fuel quality leading to very aggressive forms of acidity and corrosion and are delivered along with the fuel, to all the internal engine components, hoses, and gaskets along the way. A thin bio-film will form in your storage tanks and fuel delivery systems that then contaminate the next generation of clean fuel until something is done to change the inputs.

The 3 primary problems found in fuel remediation are fuel stability (oxidation), microbial activity, and corrosion. In a circular fashion, these lead to formations of insoluble sediments, gums,  resins, bacteria, microbial growth, and metal salts which build upon themselves and increases exponentially in the presence of water and emulsified water. Managing the key factors that contribute to the breakdown and degradation of fuel quality is our primary focus. By targeting the reduction of the presence of this bio-film is an effective way in managing future problems.

Our primary goal is to control and manage particulate levels and water content in your fuel which has the effect of controlling the symptoms that lead to the problems. We also want to remove any bio-films left-over from previous contamination to stop ongoing or persistent contamination down the road. These objectives result in clean fuel without sludge, water or corrosion which leads to cleaner engine and fuel filters which leads to optimized fuel economy, reductions in exhaust emission particulates and better fuel injection performance and life-spans.
